DIY Rustic Flower Pot

Guys!  I did a DIY project and I remembered to take pictures from start to finish! :):):)

I saw a super cute DIY flower pot on pinterest.  I apologize, I don’t know who posted it first, I’ve seen several different styles of this particular project, but I didn’t really follow any instructions.

I go through a TON of these things.  We have 3 cats.  These containers are piling up.  img_4686

I’ve been wanting to make use of them, but I couldn’t figure out how.  I remembered this idea I had seen on Pinterest and got to work.

You will need:

  • Large bucket/gigantic cat litter bucket
  • Brown spray paint (optional), I like Rust-Oleum
  • Burlap sack (I bought these, they are huge, but I think they will be perfect)
  • Plants/seeds/something to plant (Mine is a Christmas cactus)
  • Drill (not pictured)img_4691

The first thing I did was have my Hubby drill holes in the bucket for draining.

Next up, paint the tub!  You don’t really have to do this.  Last night I was so excited because I had everything I needed, I ran outside as soon as we got home and put the tub in the burlap.  Because of the bright yellow color, you could kind of  see it through the burlap.  I could have doubled up the burlap, but I thought this was easier.  img_4688

After the bucket is painted, just place it inside of the burlap sack, tuck the top part of the burlap into bucket, fill with dirt and add your plant!  So simple, the most time consuming part was waiting for the paint to dry.

I had the twine laying around the house, but you could use any kind of ribbon, rope..whatever!

I feel so good that I got this project crossed off my list for the week.  I was able to get my Christmas decorations put away and make a practice batch of cookies.

Have a great day!
