Happy New Year!

I just love the feeling of a new year.  A brand new year with no mistakes, just waiting to be filled up.  It’s like a new book that you’re writing.  🙂

I have a lot of goals for this week.  Our Christmas decor is down and put away, for the most part.  I would like to go through all of my tubs and organize.  Get rid of anything useless, broken, etc.

I also need to organize and tidy our bedroom.  It always seems to become a dumping ground, and with the holidays and being so busy, it became even worse.  I have some decorating ideas that I would like to use in there, but first I must clean.

I was also thinking about doing a backyard/garden tour.  I wonder if anyone would be interested in seeing that.  We have a very small vegetable garden but I’ve started trying to grow things in pots in the backyard.  (That’s what I meant by garden tour.)  We’ve lived here in Tucson for almost 4 years.  I love learning about all of the things that will grow here, and trying to grow them myself.

Otherwise, the kids are off of school this week.  They go back 1/8.  It has been so nuts around here.  Kids in and out, their friends have been here pretty much nonstop.  I love having my kids home, but the older they get, the more time they spend with their friends.  At this point, I’m ready to get back to our normal schedule.

What are you guys up to this week?  Kids back in school?  Any plans for the new year?

Talk soon!

Back in the Swing of Things

Well, the first day of school was a success. My 7th grader (S) decided middle school is not as scary as she thought. And my 10th grader is happy with all of her teachers. Win, win.

I spent the day with Hubby. Again, working on projects around the house. He cleaned out the garage, we got some picture frames hung up, he put up a flag in his pool table room. I made cookies for the girls for after school (our first day of school tradition), and then we relaxed through the afternoon and watched Pirates of the Caribbean.

What was left of the chocolate chip cookies after the girls got to them. 😉

Day 2 of school was pretty exciting for S.  The whole town was without power for the entire morning. The middle school was just hanging out making arrangements to bus the kids to the high school. S said they just hung out in 1st period and didn’t do any classes or anything. I could have picked her up, but she said she was having fun. The power finally came back in around lunchtime.

One of my favorite things about living in his area are the rains. Normally, I hate rain. But most of the time, the rain here come and goes so fast, you could miss it. But even if it’s not raining where you are, there is a good chance you’ll get to see the beautiful rainbows.

We were able to see this entire rainbow from our backyard! 😍

What is everyone up to this week? When do your kids go back to school?
